Turkey is a fascinating land, rich in history, the crossroads of many key historical events. It also contains the cities and ruins of the seven Churches of Revelation 2-3: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. This winter, Brothers Mark Aho and Michael Diaz will be touring, filming, and photographing these regions, while designing a tour specifically for the spiritually minded. For this type of traveler, the land is dripping with spiritual truth, as well as natural history.
Though this trip has been in the planning for some time, it was delayed when Turkey and the United States mutually froze travel Visas in Oct. 2017. Then, amid intense tensions between the leaders of the two nations, the Visa restrictions were inexplicably lifted. In that moment, the visas were obtained, and the trip is on!
The Brothers are in contact with Believers in Turkey, though Christians are tolerated at best, and sometimes persecuted in this predominantly Muslim country. Plans are in place to visit a church–a real church–in the area of ancient Laodicea.
Yes, there really is a church in Laodicea today. A blog has been set up to communicate live reports of the sites visited, along with photos and videos. You can follow along at http://firstlovetour.wordpress.com.
You can also request to be added to the trip’s WhatsApp group by contacting Mark Aho from this site. This trip is sure to be a unique and incredible adventure, and if successful, will pave the way for Many believers to go on similar trips in the future.
The trip will be called “The First Love Tour.” More details will be forthcoming.
